This project began with a collaboration with a PhD researcher developing an innovative VR-based fitness product. The technology collects heart rate data from the user’s smartwatch and connects it to the VR headset, creating a more engaged and fun environment that tailored to user’s body’s needs. She approached me to create a logo that could capture both the forward-thinking nature of her work and the immersive, interactive experience her product delivers.
In the first round, I explored three distinct visual directions, each grounded in a clear strategic rationale and presented with supporting context to illustrate how the concept could evolve across single-color or multi-color applications. She connected most with the third concept, which we then refined into the final mark.
ROUND 1
Concept 1:
This design combines an abstract eye and a distorted letter V, which resembles a heart. The intertwined elements signify the connection between the user's physical state and the VR environment. The eye represents vision and focus, while the heart-shaped V highlights the goal of maintaining target heart rates. This communicates BioVR’s innovative approach to enhancing work out motivation and effectiveness through real-time biological feedback and visual engagement.
Concept 2:
The design features intertwining lines forming a brain-like half-circle on top, with the bottom half representing input and output movements. This symbolizes the system processing biological signals and generating VR experiences. The brain shape highlights cognitive engagement, while the lines illustrate the flow of data. The bottom half of the lines also form a upside-down letter V.
Concept 3:
This typographic logo for BioVR transforms the V into an abstract heart, rotated 90 degrees clockwise and intertwined with the O in Bio. This design symbolizes the interaction between VR technology and biological signals. The heart-shaped V highlights the focus on maintaining target heart rates, while the intertwined letters represent the seamless integration of biological feedback with VR. This logo effectively conveys BioVR's mission to keep users engaged and motivated during workouts through a postive cycle of human body signal and VR feedback loop.
